[Gelesen] J. R. R. Tolkien: The Return of the King

“At last I understand why we have waited! This is the ending. Now not day only shall be beloved, but night too shall be beautiful and blessed and all its fear pass away!“

The read-along ended this month which also means I finished The Return of the King again. Although I’ve been terrible behind the whole thing the last weeks it still was an amazing experience and just made me love and cherish the entire trilogy even more. The last book is one of my all-time favorite books for a lot of reasons… some of my favorite chapters are in it but it’s also basically the perfect ending. We get the huge battles as well as the conclusion to the quest of destroying the Ring – and it doesn’t simply end there but we also learn of the fates of the members of the fellowship afterwards, especially of what happens to the Hobbits who are at the heart of the trilogy. Yeah, you have to like Tolkien’s writing style at a few points because it’s probably not everyone’s cup of tea but otherwise… absolutely perfect!
