↳Benjamin Zephaniah – Face
This is a case of an interesting blurb which doesn’t hold up. Not sure about English slang around 1999, but the language was annoying to read and the characters were terribly flat. For most of the novel it feels like Zephaniah build the entire plot around it being later used as school literature meant to get points like don’t get into a car without people you really know, don’t judge people based on their appearance alone… Martin deals rather simply with his accident and fails being inspiring at all.
Martin learnt quickly to take every day as it came and never expect one day to be the same as the last.
