based on the end of year reviews by Mama Miez
1. On a scale from 1 to 10: how was your year?
All things considered I would go with a solid 8.
2. Gained or lost weight?
Gained some, lost some, pretty much ended up with the same number. Going to change that in 2015!
3. Hair longer or shorter?
Pretty much the same length – I had it cut shorter a bit in the summer to get the overall length on the same level and now I’m slowly growing it out. Overall goal would be to have it fall over my breasts but that’s still a long way… stupid curly hair is stupid and not helping!
4. Shortsighted or farsighted?
Eyesight is still shortsighted, overall approach to things was more farsighted.
5. More money or less?
Always broke and always in denial about it. Same procedure as every year, really. Also two vacations didn’t really help in that department.
6. Better job or worse one?
Definitely better job! And one I really love as well.
7. Spent more or less?
The same as always: spent too much.
8. Won something this year (and if yes what)?
Hmm… not really.
9. Moved more or less?
Too little overall but more in general. Still need to find a way to motivate myself in the long run.
10. Number of ailments?
Two and both times it were nasty colds which turned into even nastier things.
11. Which ailment was the worst for you?
The cold I caught in France. It started as a cold and after I got back it turned into a bronchitis which lingered with me for other a month. I had to stay home too for over two weeks and missed some stuff at school and it just sucked big time.
12. Most senseless plan?
Not really senseless but yeah… driving over to Hamburg after work with J. to watch a theater play in the cinema because we missed the date here in Bremen. The next day was also a work day and my cold was already pretty bad and the trip didn’t really help… but it was fun and the play awesome! We are going to see another one together in February which I’m looking forward to.
13. Most dangerous undertaking?
We don’t do dangerous business, thank you very much (I’m boring like that).
14. Most expensive purchase?
The tickets for Disneyland – but they were worth it! Such an amazing trip and I definitely want to return!
15. The tastiest food?
Basically every lunch/dinner F. and I had during our trips to Prague and Paris. In Paris a lot of guessing was involved as we both don’t speak French and one evening a really nice waitress translated half the menu for us. In Prague they often had English descriptions on the menu but the translations were slightly off.
16. Most impressive book?
Well, 2014 was a good year for books so only picking one is impossible. I read the better part of We Were Liars during the night and cried myself over the ending to sleep… House of Leaves was like a fever dream and I reread The Return of the King and fell into my Tolkien obsession again. The last honorable mention must of course go to Ruin and Rising because I haven’t waited for a book so desperately for so long and read it in one sitting and it was literally e v e r y t h i n g.
17. Most moving movie?
Her was pretty good and hit close to home but I probably enjoyed Austenland the most!
18. Best CD?
I only have a handful of favorite albums as I often only enjoy a few songs so that leaves only Shatter Me by Lindsey Stirling and Mitgift by Subway To Sally. Among the best songs of 2014 were Swift’s Blank Space (that song plus that video!!!), Sheppard’s Geronimo (perfect song to get into a good mood), Au Revoir and Flash Mich from Mark Forster as well as Bang Bang from Jessie J., Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj.
19. The best concert?
F. and I saw our favorite band in April together again which was cool… but even though that’s not really a concert but a reading, I have to go with the Welcome to Night Vale show in Hamburg! Met up with a bunch of girls from tumblr for it and it was perfection!
20. Most time spent with?
Working probably, followed by insane amounts of reading and watching TV shows.
21. Spent the best time with?
Hands down with F. although I was probably difficult as usual. 2014 was really the year in which we saw the most of each other since graduating.
22. Done for the first time?
Accidentally ended up riding a rollercoaster with loops in Disneyland… after the end of the ride F. asked me whether I’m still alive because I was hands down terrified and screamed the entire time. Still it was kind of fun and we did that ride and another again. Also rode rides alone for the first time that weekend which was different but okay.
23. Done again after a long time?
Reading fanfiction. The last Hobbit movie will do that to you. And I simply can’t get enough of reader insert stories!
24.Things I could have lived without?
The death in the family and the funeral. Also all the time spent at the hospital.
25. Most important thing I wanted to convince someone off?
Can’t have been anything too important because I don’t remember anything.
26. The best gift I gave someone?
In my opinion my niece got pretty cool gifts this year even if she isn’t old enough to appreciate them.
27. The best gift I received from someone?
F. was pretty awesome during our trip to France. She had no real idea about Versailles and just agreed to do a day trip to it and let me drag her other the grounds… and on another day she allowed me to the same thing in the Louvre and it was just amazing! And I know how much it must have bored her so it was a real gift!
28. The most beautiful sentence someone said to me?
“You look truly happy.”
29. The most beautiful sentence I said to someone?
If I only knew…
30. Word of the year?
Neustart
31. Non-word of the year?
Töle
32. Favorite blogs of the year?
I don’t really read a lot of blogs… but I like these:
– glitzandshadows
– jokerchenisdifferent
– apriki
– beautybutterflies
– Rookie
– Eerie Silence
33. Last years review for comparison:
First time doing this so no comparison possible… next year! :D
